PRESENTATION
An eight-day itinerary for those wishing to delve into the local life of the Sakalava.
The trip combines a hike on the island of Nosy Komba through several authentic villages dotted around the top of the island.
The nights are provided in guest rooms or homestay, at a height of 400m altitude.
The lunches and dinners will be traditional, if desired you can participate in the preparation.
And finally, the stay ends in Nosy Be with the oldest village of the island, Marodoka, where you will attend a cultural show organized by the women’s association.
PRICE PER PERSON: FROM 670 €, part of which is donated to local humanitarian associations which promote sustainable and responsible eco-tourism.

DETAILED PROGRAM
Nosy Be
Meeting at Fascene airport with our assistant and transfer to Hell-Ville (15 minutes drive).
Check-in. Free time for Lunch
Guided tour of the city to discover the market and the various craft shops. Dinner and overnight at the hotel HOME SAKALAVA HB.
Nosy Komba
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the port, followed by a transfer by speedboat to Nosy Komba.
Accommodation in a real Malagasy house, offering rooms with private bathrooms.
Lunch in a typical local restaurant. Visit the village of Ampangorina, and participate in a workshop of woodcarvers, as well as a workshop of hand-embroidered tablecloths by women of the island.
Dinner and night. Homestay L + FB.
Nosy Komba
Hike through the lemur park early in the morning to avoid tourists. Then visit the summit of the island through the forest, cocoa plantations, ylang-ylang, bananas, vanilla, coffee, pepper, and small authentic villages inhabited by local farmers. (About an hours hike)
Organic lunch in an ecological commune where all products are grown on-site. A light snack at sunset on the summit at 622m altitude.
Dinner and overnight at Akiba. FB full board. L + FB.
Nosy Komba
After breakfast, you will descend to the sea through the winding forest path and visit a waterfall. You will explore the village of Antitorono and you will meet another humanitarian association active in the educational development of reforestation.
There is the possibility of being massaged by a traditional healer (known as ombiasy), with essential oils, herbs, and roots.
Return with a traditional pirogue (boat) to Ampangorina. You will stay in a homestay. homestay accommodation. L + FB.
Nosy Komba
Wake early in the morning for a traditional pirogue fishing experience.
Followed by a picnic lunch on the island of Ambariobe.
After this, snorkeling at Ambariofasy (the small island that is connected by a sandbar to Ambariobe).
Heading back to the village in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at the inhabitant. L + FB.
Lokobe
After breakfast, cross the channel boat to the Lokobe Nature Reserve, located in the south of Nosy Be. The footpaths we will take cover the entire reserve through the primary forest.
During the walk, you will discover different species of plants and different endemic animals.
Stopping by the authentic village of Ambalahonko (mangrove wall) with more than ten different species of mangrove trees.
You will then relax on the beach of Madirotelo, one of the most beautiful beaches of Nosy Be, off the beaten track.
Followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the village in an authentic Malagasy house.

Nosy Be
After breakfast, transfer to Hell-Ville, then to Marodoka. Visit the oldest village of the island, where Arab merchants had established their counters.
The visit begins with a haunted house, followed by a visit to the Mosque, and ends with the cemetery. In the afternoon, a cultural show will be organized by the village women’s association. Lunch is provided at the village and dinner at the hotel. HOME SAKALAVA L+HB.
